Chico

From Puyo Nexus

Chico is a strange tribal girl that appears in Puyo Puyo~n. She owns Dragon as a pet, and is always seen carrying a large staff around. She also has large claws on both her hands and feet, and has irregular ears. She probably also has a good touch with nature, considering she managed to tame and befriend a giant monster like Dragon. She joins Arle's party in the Ruin stage, just in time to fight Schezo.

Chico looks and sounds very similar to Rider, and some believe that Rider was based on or even made to replace Chico. However, such believes are purely speculation drawn from parallels in design and voice. Ironically, she could have possibly been designed by SEGA, since SEGA worked on the game alongside Compile.

Chico is one of the very few characters in Pre-Fever Puyo that was not borrowed from or later used in a Madou Monogatari game.
